Little League World Series
Staten Island's South Shore All-Stars reach Little League World Series
The team is dedicating its run to Tom Tolino, one of the South Shore Little League's founders, who died in February. Players and team officials say Tolino dedicated his life to the league.
"He was a really great man, started this whole organization in 1954," said Nick Pucciarelli, the team's center fielder. "He would always be at the field. He would always be here helping us, doing a bunch of stuff. He was a good guy."
"He would love a team like this: the athleticism, the power, the power pitching," said South Shore All-Stars manager Mike Zaccariello. "He's just a baseball guy. He would be so ecstatic to be up there and so proud to see us perform the way we have."
Tolino was one of the driving forces behind the league's previous two trips to the World Series in 1985 and 1991.

A team from California won the Little League World Series.
The 6-3 victory by Chula Vista's Park View Little League team over Taiwan
marked the first world championship since 1993 for a California team.
