A Headshaved Kerwin On Inside Edition

I indirectily know this guy, Lance Kerwin from one of Billy Joel's songs "James" (which is on Joel's album, Turnstyles). The tune was the theme of Kerwin's 70's sitcom James at 15. Kerwin was also a featured actor on many ABC Afterschool Specials.

Kerwin today, is looking more like Billy Joel, than the kid he portrayed many years ago.


Truth is he fell on hard times and was so broke he and his family even had to go on food stamps. It was huge fall for the star of a network TV show. When he filmed the series, he lived in a waterfront penthouse apartment in Marina del Ray, California. So what happened? Like many young actors he turned to drugs. The acting roles dried up and so did the money.

"Does that Lance seem like a different person to you?" Inside Edition's Jim Moret asked him.
"No. No, I keep wondering when I'm going to grow up," said Kerwin.

What are you implying with that remark? Kerwin was a boy back then. Now he's a man. A bald man. So what's the big deal.
