Avatar 3d awesomeness

Post  mcpacker on Tue Jan 05, 2010 11:32 pm

I saw avatar today with a friend. The only other 3d movie I have seen was some Michael Jackson film at Disneyland so I didn't really know what to expect. I don't know the right word to describe it so I will leave it at WOW. If you have not seen it you will not be disappointed. Totally worth the ticket price.

I haven't seen Avatar yet. Some people have said they got nauseous from the combination of the fast action and the 3-D effects. That's not gonna deter me from seeing it.

It was amazing on a regular screen.

Avatar IMAX-ed, multiply the amazing factor by 10.

At the beginning the 3d was a little weird but you quickly get used to it.

I'm debating whether or not to make the trip over to Decatur to see Avatar in IMAX.
From what I've been told the 3D effects are just as immersive in a regular theater.

I can't say if IMAX is better since I have not seen it but the 3d is great on a regular screen. The people look like you can touch them. You will feel like you are really there. There are so many little things that you wouldn't notice in 2d that really aid in the immersion. It is one of those movies that if you don't see it in the theater you will regret it.

I saw this film in a conventional theater. The 3D visuals are spectacular. What get's me is the over-analyzing of this film. They're saying things about subliminal messages in the film, anit-war (specifially American war policies in Muslim countries), environmental and racial messages. I go to the movies to be entertained.

I'm with you about over-analyzing. What I like about this movie is how amazing it looked. I think people will see in it what they want to see. What I saw was awesome special effects and a good story. For the sake of those two things I plan on seeing it again while it is in the theaters.

I wonder what it would look like on the huge tv in the Cowboys stadium. IMAX has nothing on a 60 yard screen.

Saw Avatar today. Sometimes a movie gets good press and disappoints. Not this one. Very enjoyable.

This was the first film that I had to pay a surcharge. The final cost was $3 above the regular fare at the multiplex. But it was worth it. An amazing combination of technology and film-making.
